DRESSAGE

Dressage is a french word meaning training. Dressage work aids riders and ponies in all disciplines, from games to combined training. In dressage competitions, riders and their ponies ride a set series of figures at different gaits. At the lower levels, riders demonstrate basic control of their mounts, position and balance and mastery of the basic figures. As they advance in the levels, horse and rider must show better balance, flexibility and improved control. Most of our members participate in dressage.

Dressage Rallies 2004

C Dressage was held May 23rd at Menfelt. This year for the first time, Antietam sent two full teams. Antietam Black was composed of Mitchell and Oscar, Renee and Norman, Beth and Declan (riding 4th level!), Tara and Mac and Ashleigh as stable manager. This team finished 6th overall, and 3rd in Horse Management. This was Tara's last rally as a Pony Clubber, since she was scheduled to be wearing a white dress and walking down the aisle a few weeks after dressage!
Mitchell and Beth both rode musical freestyles, with Mitchell and Oscar riding to music from "Cats" and finishing 2nd, Beth and Declan with a celtic themed freestyle, finishing 4th.
Antietam Gold team was composed of Regan and Secret, Brett and Motley, Jackie and Scotty and Kait and Jade with Ashtyn as sm. This team had a few issues with HM and finished 14th overall, although Brett and Motley turned in the best dressage score of the two teams with a 65.

Although we had planned to send a team to D Dressage in August, a snafu with information sent out by the organizers was not caught in time, and our team members were sadly not able to compete. We'll hope to do better next year
