GAMES

Mounted games are a very popular sport in Antietam Pony Club. Games teach both pony and rider confidence, balance, and suppleness. As riders work on their games skills they improve their riding while having fun. Here are pictures from various games competitions we have taken part in.

Antietam held it's first ever junior/novice games clinic on March 18, 2006. Despite windy and chilly conditions, 6 clinicians from Antietam put their groups through an intensive 3 hour instructional period, then followed it up with an exciting coached competition. Everyone seemed to have a great time and learned valuable tips for the upcoming rally season.
Some nice comments we received after the clinic
In case I didn't say it enough, the clinic was wonderful. Megan
really enjoyed it. It was the first time she has really had an opportunity
to interact with Brett and she has a new hero. Tell Brett thank you
because Megan seemed to be getting a little bored and is inspired again ---
and I know she was having fun because she didn't whine about the wind like I
was.
Stacey, the clinic on Saturday was great! Kim really enjoyed it and
Jackie did a great job coaching them. From what I could see all your coaches
did a great job. I wish more kids up our way were into games, Kim just loves
it. We will be down for the games challenge.

PRINCE PHILLIP CUP - Check the Prince Phillip Cup page for information about the 2005 competition.
PRESIDENT'S CUP - In October of 2005 Road Trip competed in the Senior Division Post Season competition during the Fair Hill International. Going up against 3 other senior teams, Road Trip played in their usual hard and fast fashion. They came in second by two points to the Capital Region Kryptonite team after an unfortunate elimination at the end of a game.

REPORT FROM 2005 GAMES CHAMPIONSHIPS
Antietam had six members participating at the 2005 USPC National Championships and one in spirit (Kait Gallahan) with the Pixies Team of
Amy Knapp and Ashley Quinn this past weekend. Kait helped the Pixies
qualify for Nationals at the Regional Rally in June, but wasn't able to
participate in Nationals due to a previously scheduled trip to Alaska.
The Pixies came in 9th overall in Advanced Pair Games with 45.50 points
and tied for 10th place in HM with only 5 points off the entire weekend,
winning the tie-breaker. They were in 3rd place after the first session, but
Amy dislocated her shoulder during the second session and was not able to
ride most of the second session, which dropped their team to 10th place.
Amy recovered and on Sunday her team was able to ride again for the third
session. They did well and picked up one spot finishing in 9th place.
Not bad for not being able to compete in several games!
Road Trip came in 2nd place overall with 92.50 points, missing 1st
place by only 4 points. Regan was injured during the 5th race on the first day
and was not able to ride the remainder of the competition. Road Trip
actually tied for 2nd with the Kryptonite team from Capital Region, but our
Horse Management Scores were better, making our team win the tie by a ½ a
point!
Road Trip won a three-way tie for 6th place in HM!!! This tie-breaker
had to go to the highest level and Road Trip won by the number of Exceeds
Standards on their Formal Turn-outs. Road Trip only had 6 points off,
which comes out to 1.5 points deducted from their riding scores for the
entire weekend. Jackie and Regan both had perfect formal turn-outs!
